Barrie Police Press Release – April 1 2015

Occurrence Type: Robbery

Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2015 – 9:00pm

At approximately 9pm two brothers and a friend were walking along Ardagh Road when they came across two other males and engaged in a verbal argument. The argument escalated to the point where the pair of males threatened to assault and rob the trio.

As the argument continued the males made good on their threat and assaulted the males causing significant facial injury to one of the brothers and running away in possession of an Iphone stolen from the trio.

With the help of the Barrie police K9 Services and through keen investigation by uniform officers, the suspects were located at a Timberwalk address and arrested.

The victim attended RVH and was treated for his injuries and the co-accuswds were held pending a bail hearing

Occurrence Type: Stolen Motor vehicle roll over

Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2015 – 11:55pm

At approximately 9pm two young offenders began going through parked cars with unlocked doors in search of valuable. The soon discovered an unlocked car in the William Paddison Drive area and discovered a key hidden within the vehicle and decided to steal the vehicle.

The youth drove the car for bout 50 minutes until they lost control on Lakeshore Drive at Minet’s point. The vehicle struck a pole and rolled over. Thankfully no one was hurt but the males left the area in an attempt to evade police.

Officers located the pair nearby and questioned them. One of the males claimed a third party had been the driver, identified him by name and gave officers a direction of travel.

Officers set up a perimeter and K9 services were called to assist.

Officers learned through police computer systems that the male had been arrested in September 2014 for being in possession of stolen property obtained in the exact same manner. The record also showed that at the time the youth had also pointed the finger at another male who was found to be inexistent. The male was currently on curfew imposed on him by the courts in an attempt to curb the males thieving ways.

Officers further question the male who admitted to being the driver.

The male was charged with failing to comply with undertaking, Theft over $5000 and possession of stolen property over $5000

The Barrie Police would like to once again ask citizens to lock their car doors and ask parents who have youths living in their homes on court imposed curfews to ensure they are abiding by them.

Date: Wednesday, April 1, 2015 – 12:54am

Barrie police officers were called to a downtown liquor establishment in relation to two men who were causing problems. Both men were investigated and deemed to be intoxicated in a public place, arrested and transported to the Barrie police station until sober.

Once at the station one of the males was being processed and while conversing with a special constable the male advised him that he would kill him and slaughter” his whole family. The male now faces a criminal charge instead of a ticket.
