Barricaded Person Facing Weapon & Threat Charges

(HURON-KINLOSS TWP, ON) – On August 11, 2019 just after 5:00 a.m. South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) under the Direction of the Critical Incident Commander, Inspector Fishleigh of the OPP, and with the assistance of the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region Canine Unit, as well as OPP Crisis Negotiators, responded to a barricaded person at a residence on Bruce Road 1, in Huron-Kinloss Township.

After approximately 8 hours the OPP TRU Team entered the residence and took the accused into custody. The accused was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Assault with a Weapon S. 267(a) CC

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose S. 88 CC

Utter Threats Cause Death S. 264.1(1)(a) CC

Mischief S. 431(b) CC

The accused will remain in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Walkerton on August 12, 2019.

Bruce Road 1 is closed between Guest Avenue and Statters Lake Avenue as a result of this investigation
