Bancroft OPP Weekly Press Release

(BANCROFT, ON) – During the two weeks from the 12th of September 2016 through to the 25th of September 2016, officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to one hundred and seventy seven (177) calls for service.

These investigations included three (3) 911 calls, four (4) alarm calls, an ambulance assist, three (3) animal complaints, four (4) assaults, two (2) attempt or threat of suicide, five (5) breach of conditions, a disturb the peace, eleven (11) domestic disputes, drug offences, four (4) family disputes, fraud complaints, harassments, mental health act calls, four (4) mischiefs, two (2) missing persons who were located, neighbour disputes, noise complaints, twenty three (23) police assistance calls, ten (10) police information calls, five (5) prevent breach of the peace, four (4) property related calls, two (2) sexual assaults, stolen vehicle, sudden death investigation, seven (7) threats calls, seventeen (17) traffic complaints, traffic hazards, trespassing calls, trouble with youth, weapons calls and other police related calls for service.

Eight (8) criminal code charges were laid as a result of those investigations.

Officers also responded to six (6) motor vehicle collisions; one (1) involved a vehicle striking a deer.

Officers conducted fourteen (14) R.I.D.E. programs in the areas, resulting in two hundred and two (202) vehicles being assessed for drivers who had been consuming alcohol.

During that same period, officers laid twenty nine (29) Provincial Offence Notices, including twelve (12) charges for speeding. There were also twelve (12) seatbelt related charges – ten (10) related to drivers, and two (2) for children who were not fastened in. There were also tickets laid for unnecessary noise, no licence, failing to surrender licence, intoxicated in a public place, improper left turn and other highway traffic act offences.
