(BANCROFT, ON) – During the week of the 26th of September 2016 through to the 02nd of October 2016, officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to eighty nine (89) calls for service.
These investigations included three (3) alarm calls, an animal complaint, two (2) assaults, two (2) break and enters, breach of probation, bail violations, dangerous conditions, three (3) domestic disputes, four (4) drug offences, three (3) family disputes, two (2) frauds, harassments, liquor license offences, two (2) neighbour disputes, ten (10) police assistance calls, one (1) sudden death investigation, five (5) thefts, eight (8) traffic complaints, trespass to property act, trouble with youth, unwanted persons, weapons calls and other police related calls for service.
Seven (7) criminal code charges were laid as a result of those investigations.
Officers also responded to ten (10) motor vehicle collisions; two (2) involved collisions between a vehicles and a deer, and a vehicle and a bear.
Officers conducted five (5) R.I.D.E. programs in the area, resulting in approximately one hundred and sixteen (116) vehicles being assessed for drivers who had been consuming alcohol. In one R.I.D.E. program, three (3) males were arrested for drug and liquor offences.
During that same period, officers issued eighteen (18) Provincial Offence Notices, including charges for speeding, distracted driving, fail to stop at a stop sign, following to close, fail to properly wear seatbelt, careless driving, insurance related charges, and other highway traffic act offences.
