Bancroft OPP Calls For Service

(BANCROFT, ON) – During the week of the 27 of February 2017 through to the 05 of March 2017, officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to seventy five (75) calls for service.

These investigations included alarms, three (3) ambulance assists, animal complaint, break and enter, breach of probation, three (3) domestic disputes, two (2) family disputes, two (2) fires, two (2) frauds, two (2) harassments, liquor license act offence, mischief, missing person, two (2) neighbour disputes, nine (9) 911 calls (all non-emergency), eight (8) police assistance / information calls, shoplifting, sudden death, seven (7) thefts, six (6) traffic complaints, traffic hazard, two (2) unwanted persons and other police related calls for service.

Five (5) criminal charges were laid as a result of the shoplifting, theft and breach of probation investigations.

Officers also responded to nine (9) motor vehicle collisions (MVC) where four (4) were involved with deer related causes. Three motor vehicles struck a deer and one (1) swerved to miss a deer and ended up striking a snowbank causing damage.

One MVC involved a motorized snow vehicle leaving the trail where the driver was pronounced deceased by the coroner. (See related media release)

Officers conducted four (4) R.I.D.E. programs in the area, resulting in approximately thirty five (35) vehicles assessed for drivers who had been consuming alcohol.

During that same period, officers laid twenty two (22) Provincial Offence Notices. Fourteen (14) related to speeding, five (5) drive motor vehicle – no currently validated permit, two (2) for being intoxicated in a public place and depositing material that is likely to become litter.
