(GORDON TOWNSHIP, ON) – In the early morning hours of Thursday, March 3, 2016, members of the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Golf Course Road, Gordon Township, Ontario. The driver was arrested after officers determined he was impaired by the consumption of alcohol.
As a result of this investigation, Derek BAILEY, age 23 of Gordon Township, Ontario has been charged with impaired driving, and exceeding the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, contrary to sections 253(1) (a) & 253(1) (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on March 21, 2016.
The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
