(CALEDON, ON) – The Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has a new Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system in their possession for a limited timeframe. The ALRP is mounted in a normal police vehicle and has the ability to read vehicle license plates and check them for rapid identity verification. The license plate recognition system can be used to locate stolen or wanted vehicles within seconds, allowing for immediate action by the members of Caledon Detachment.
