(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) β Members of the County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to Highway #403 20 February 2016 at approximately 10:00 p.m.in response to a male walking along the highway wearing dark clothing and barely visible to motorists.
OPP attended the scene and found the male party who refused to leave the highway and he was subsequently arrested for being a pedestrian on a Highway under the Highway Traffic Act.
During the arrest an officer was injured and had to be taken to a local hospital by County of Brant Ambulance Service.
The OPP have charged 18-year-old Austin LAMONT of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nations with assault causing bodily harm and resisting arrest both under the Criminal Code of Canada.
He was also charged for being a Pedestrian on a prohibited Highway under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date to answer to the charges.
