ATV MISHAP SENDS MAN TO HOSPITAL

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Monday, October 14, 2013 at approximately 2:00 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on the St. Vincent/Sydenham Town Line, south of Hwy. 26 in the Municipality of Meaford. The victim was part of a group riding their ATV’s on a bush trail in the area when the mishap occurred.

Investigation revealed that the victim left the trail and attempted to ride up a steep hill when the ATV, a 1988 Yamaha YFW, flipped up and back over top of the rider. He had momentarily lost consciousness. The victim was taken out of the area by another member of the group, and returned to the St. Vincent/Sydenham Town Line, where he was treated by Grey County Emergency Services (EMS). The Inter-Township Fire Department assisted.

The victim, a 29 year old male from the Township of Chatsworth, was air lifted to Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario where he remains in critical condition.
