Asmir OMEROVIC – Drunk Driving, Methamphetamine

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On July 4, 2015 at approximately 2:41 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a possible impaired driver fail to stop at the red light on Hyde Park at Ilderton Road.

Officers initiated a traffic stop of the grey Chevrolet car on Hyde Park as the vehicle travelled northbound.

Police determined the male driver had been drinking alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for breath testing.

As a result of the police investigation, 27-year-old Asmir OMEROVIC, from London, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. As a quantity of methamphetamine was located in the vehicle, he was further charged with possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear, and is scheduled to answer the charges in a London court on August 28, 2015.
