(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) On November 29, 2014, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), The Temiskaming Shores Fire Departments and The District of Temiskaming Ambulance Service responded to a fire above a local business on Armstrong Street North shortly before 7:00 a.m.
Upon arrival of this priority call, the tenants in the six upstairs apartments were immediately evacuated. Two tenants were transported to the hospital by ambulance where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The OPP Temiskaming Crime Unit as well as investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist with this investigation.
On December 2, 2014, The Temiskaming OPP have arrested an adult male in connection with this investigation. Christopher EDWARDS, 35, of New Liskeard, has been charged with Arson – disregard for human life and Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code. He will appear in bail court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on December 3, 2014.
