(INGERSOLL, ON) – Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of mischief to a Pride flag on June 20, 2016 in the Town of Ingersoll.
A Pride flag had been erected in a park located on the corner of Thames Street and Charles Street in Ingersoll. The flag was erected at that location as a memorial for the victims of the Orlando incident and to commemorate Pride month.
It is believed that between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on June 20, 2016, the flag was removed from the flag pole in that park and was later located in the park garbage can damaged.
Oxford OPP advise that on Thursday June 23, 2016, one male was arrested in connection with this incident.
Michael A. Turner, 36-years-of-age of Ingersoll, was arrested without incident. He has been charged with Mischief under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date at the Woodstock Courthouse.
