Arrest Made In Canada Revenue Scam

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Members of the Muskoka Area Crime Unit and Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted an investigation into a fraud originating from Brossard, Quebec where a victim was contacted by a man posing as a representative from the Canada Revenue Agency in June of 2015. The victim sent over $10,000.00 to the man, believing that she was paying a tax debt. The investigation revealed that a man residing in Bracebridge was responsible for the fraud.

Police have charged 23 year-old Siddharth PANCHAL of Bracebridge with:

· Fraud Over $5000 CC 380(1)(a)

· Theft Over $5000 CC 334(a)

· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a)

PANCHAL will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 15th, 2015 to answer to his charges.
