Arrest Made In Break And Enters

(ORILLIA, ON) – Inspector Pat Morris of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is reminding citizens to lock their doors! The City of Orillia has had a series of residential Break and Enters during the past 3 weeks.

On Monday November 14, 2016, at approximately 2:00 a.m., homeowners on Adair Street in the City of Orillia were awakened to the sound of someone inside their home. The omeowner confronted the male party and was able to detain him until police arrived and arrested the suspect.

The Orillia OPP has charged 31 year old William SHILSON.

He was held for a Bail Hearing and is still in custody.

He has been charged with the following:

Break and Enter a Dwelling to Commit an Indictable Offence x 2

Escape Lawful Custody x 1

Fail to Comply with a Probation Order x 2

Possess Schedule ll substance-Cannabis Marihuana

Police have linked the accused to a similar Break and Enter that occurred earlier on the same street.

The Orillia OPP Crime Unit and Street Crime Unit (SCU) are assisting with the investigation.

In all six of the Break and Enter occurrences, similar circumstances exist, the door was not locked. Inspector Pat Morris would like to remind people that most crime in this area is property crime. In many cases, the property, a house or vehicle, was left insecure. We all have a responsibility to do our part to prevent crime and victimization.
