(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Tuesday July 27, 2010 at 5:30 p.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to a two vehicle collision on Hwy. 8 just west of Road 145. This is just west of the location of a fiery tractor trailer crash that had taken place five hours earlier and was still being cleaned up on private property north of the highway.
Police investigation revealed that a small west bound sedan, driving in the west bound lane of Hwy. 8 was slowing down to turn into a private driveway on the south side of the highway. A second west bound sedan, driving substantially faster drove into the back of the first vehicle causing a collision. The impact forced both vehicles into the south ditch where they came to rest.
The driver of the first vehicle, a 37 year old male from the Municipality of West Perth sustained minimal injuries and was not transported to hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, a 19 year old female from the Township of Perth East sustained minor injuries and was transported to Stratford General Hospital. The female driver of the second vehicle was charged with “careless drivingâ€.
