(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – On October 4, 2016, at approximately 9:10 p.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Dundas Street near Purple Hill Road.
A blue Volkswagen car travelling westbound and a black Kenworth transport truck and trailer travelling eastbound, were involved in a collision in the eastbound lanes, when the car struck the trailer’s rear tire. Neither driver was injured in the collision.
Officers determined that the 20-year-old male driver of the car had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening device was administered, and the driver registered a “fail”. He was placed under arrest, and transported to a Middlesex County OPP detachment for further breath testing.
As a result of the police investigation, Anthony CUNHA, from Wallaceburg, Ontario, has been charged with driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charge in a London court on November 14, 2016.
