Another School Bus Driver Charged In A Collision – One Student Injured

(ST. CLAIR TWP, ON)- On June 7, 2016 at approximately 4:00 p.m. members of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the intersection of Moore Line and Brigden Road, St. Clair Township to investigate a motor vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed that a school bus, containing five elementary aged students had entered an intersection controlled by a stop sign on Moore Line at Brigden Road. As a result, the school bus failed to yield to a south bound Volkswagen Jetta that had the “right of way” on Brigden Road.

One of the students on the bus suffered minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported by other students, passengers or drivers. Brigden Road was closed and traffic re- directed for a mere thirty minutes. The Volkswagen sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene. The school bus driver, a 56 year old male from Sarnia Ontario, was charged with “fail to yield to traffic on a through highway”, Section 136(1) (b) of the Highway Traffic Act.
