(LAMBTON, ON) – On Wednesday April 12th, 2017 at just after 4:00 p.m., members the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on routine patrol, observed a southbound pick-up truck being driven in an aggressive manner on St. Clair Parkway, St. Clair Township.
OPP conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of St. Clair Parkway and during the traffic stop, the investigating officer could detect the odour of suspected fresh and burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The investigating officer then formed the opinion that the driver of the pick-up truck was impaired by drug. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP – Petrolia Detachment for testing by a Drug Recognition Expert which resulted in a fail.
The driver of the pick-up truck was identified as 26 year old Anthony Francis BARR of St. Clair Township and has been charged with:
Driving While Ability Impaired
Possession of a Schedule II Substance
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday May 24th, 2017.
The OPP is again reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
