(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) At approximately 9:30 a.m. On Thursday February 05, 2015, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a motor vehicle vs pedestrian collision at the intersection of Ontario Road and St.Andrew Street in Mitchell.
Investigation revealed that a female pedestrian was crossing Ontario Road in a south bound direction using the pedestrian crosswalk. The pedestrian was struck by a slow moving Dodge Journey SUV that was making a left turn (west) from St.Andrew Street. The pedestrian a 55 year old female from the Municipality of West Perth was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV, a 52 year old female from North Bay was uninjured. The driver of the SUV has been charged with the offence of; “fail to yield to pedestrianâ€, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
