(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County detachment is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision at an Ireland Road, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at approximately 5:18 p.m., OPP and Norfolk County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at an Ireland Road address.
Through investigation it has been determined that an 83-year-old female of Norfolk County, Ontario was crossing eastbound on Ireland Road just south of Jones Avenue. A motor vehicle being operated by an 80-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was travelling northbound on Ireland Road when the vehicle and pedestrian collided.
As a result of the collision, the 83-year-old female suffered serious life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the attending coroner. The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries.
Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
Identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Ireland Road is closed between Lynndale Road and Victoria Street and Jones Avenue is closed at Mann Avenue. The road closure will be in effect for approximately 7 hours to allow for further investigation.
The investigation is continuing.
