Another Drunk Driver Caught Near Mitchell – Name Released

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) – On Saturday September 10, 2016, shortly before 11 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was dispatched to a traffic complaint involving a possible impaired driver along Line 36 near Mitchell.

The officer observed the vehicle described in the traffic complaint, travelling south bound on St. Andrew Street in Mitchell. The officer conducted a traffic stop and a determination was made that the male driver of the car had been drinking alcoholic beverages. The driver was given a Standardized Field Sobriety Test. As a result of this test he was arrested for Impaired Driving. He was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment in Sebringville for Intoxilyzer breath tests.

As a result of the police investigation, 29-year-old Robert MCBRYDE of the Township of Perth South has been charged with, driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to answer the charges in the Stratford Criminal Court of Justice on September 26, 2016. He was issued an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
