(LAMBTON, ON) – On Monday December 19th, 2016, members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a R.I.D.E. program in the area of Lambton Line and Florence Road, Dawn-Euphemia Township.

At just after 8:30 p.m., OPP observed a vehicle conduct a U-turn in the middle of Lambton Line, in an attempt to avoid the R.I.D.E. program. OPP in attempting to catch up to the motorist observed the vehicle turn into a private laneway in the 6100 block of Lambton Line where the vehicle was then observed driving up onto the lawn and become stuck in the snow.

Officers approached the stopped vehicle and while speaking with the lone male driver, who was attempting to slide into the front passenger seat, suspected the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. As a result, the male driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP Petrolia Detachment where subsequent breath samples resulted in a WARN.

In addition to being issued a 3 Day Driving Suspension, 29 year old David MARTENS of Thamesville, ON was also charged with

The OPP is reminding drivers that any amount of alcohol or other drugs can impair one’s ability to drive. Impaired driving remains the leading cause of criminal death in Canada.
