(LAURENTIAN HILLS, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating an act of mischief after damage to a Canada Post community mailbox was reported on March 28, 2016. The mail box, located on Legere Drive in Laurentian Hills, was found to have been forced open sometime between March 25 and March 28, 2016. An investigation is underway to determine if any mail was stolen although mail was still present in the mail boxes when the incident was reported. A similar incident of mischief to a community mailbox on Moores Road near Highway 17 in Laurentian Hills occurred on December 23, 2015 and is still under investigation.
In order to reduce the potential for victimization residents are reminded to retrieve their mail on a regular basis and to make arrangements to have their mail collected while away.
