(HALIBURTON, ON) – Members of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be lacing up the skates against some tough competition. OPP Officers from the detachment will be playing in several hockey games against local area grade 8 Trillium Lakelands elementary school students. The games have been an annual tradition for close to 20 years. The students really enjoy playing in them and it gives officers and students a chance to have fun together and build relationships. Members of the community are encouraged to come out and cheer on the students and enjoy watching the officers being sent to the penalty box. Each student player receives a souvenir water bottle and OPP puck that were donated by Minden Canadian Tire and County Sign & Display. The games are set for the following days:
vs J. Douglas Hodgson Elementary School – Thursday Feb 27 1-2 pm at A.J. Larue Arena, Haliburton
vs Archie Stouffer Elementary School – Thursday March 6 2-3 pm at S.G. Nesbitt Arena, Minden
vs Wilberforce Elementary School – Friday March 28 2-3 pm at Keith Tallman Memorial Arena, Wilberforce
