Barrie Police were called to a south end residence for an animal complaint.
Witnesses advised a dog had been left outside since early in the morning and was bleeding from his paws.
Police located a gentle spirited chocolate lab who was quite friendly but clearly in distress.
Police were able to take him to the Barrie SPCA for treatment of minor cuts to his paws and given food and water.
SPCA staff advised the dog had been admitted to their clinic several times and but the owner usually retrieves him after a few days.
Police located the owner in Orillia and charged her with “cause an animal to suffer†under the Criminal Code of Canada, Section 445.1(a).
