(HAMILTON TWP, ON) – On Friday November 28, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) went to a residence after receiving a call of an unwanted male in Hamilton Township.
OPP officers arrived at the Dale Road residence where an intoxicated male was located. The officers were told the male was being belligerent with his hosts and was asked to leave. A taxi had attended and refused transporting him because of his intoxication prior to police arrival.
The male was arrested to prevent a further breach of the peace when he became aggressive with the officers. He spit on the officers several times, while screaming racial slurs and other derogatory statements to the officers. The male was taken to the Cobourg OPP detachment to be held in custody until he was sober where he continued to spit at the officers and also causing several unsanitary problems involving bodily substances while in the cell.
Andrew Allan STEPHEN, age 23 from Harwood, Ontario has been charged with one count of resist peace officer and mischief – interfere with lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property and six counts of mischief under $5,000 under the Criminal Code.
The accused was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday December 17, 2014 at 9:30 am.
