(POINT EDWARD, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid firearm charges against a 63 year old male driver from Colorado, U.S.A.
The male attempted entry into Canada through the Blue Water Bridge border point on June 28, 2014 around 5:00 p.m. The male, along with his Jeep and trailer, was required by officers from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to attend secondary inspection.
During the secondary inspection, two un-declared handguns were located by CBSA officers and Lambton OPP subsequently attended. The 63 year old male, charged with seven criminal code weapon offences, was held by OPP for a court appearance.
The male faces the following charges:
possess a firearm without being the holder of a licence x2
possess a firearm knowing that he was not the holder of a licence x2
possess a prohibited firearm together with readily accessible ammunition
import into Canada a firearm x2
A Ruger 22 calibre handgun and a Ruger 9mm handgun were seized at the time of the event.
