ALPR – Suspended Driver

(Tweed, ON) – On November 25, 2014 at 9:20 a.m. members of Central Hastings O.P.P utilized a police cruiser equipped with the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system to stop a driver identified to have a suspended drivers licence while travelling on Victoria Street North in the Village of Tweed.

Cameras mounted on the cruiser automatically scan licence plates which are checked against a database to see if the plates are expired or stolen or if the registered owner’s licence is suspended.

As a result of the traffic stop, the 61 year old male driver of Tweed, ON was charged with Driving While Under Suspension.
