(SUNDRIDGE, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Almaguin Highlands OPP, Grey County OPP and supported by the West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and West Region Tactic and Rescue Unit executed a search warrant on Friday January 15, 2016 at a residence in the Municipality of Grey Highlands in Grey County.
As a result of an ongoing investigation, Stephen Paul KELMAN, 33 of Grey Highlands was arrested and charged with two counts of armed robbery. The first robbery occurred at the Countryside Pharmacy in Omemee on January 05, 2016 and the second on January 09, 2016 at the Guardian Pharmacy in Sundridge. The accused is currently being held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 19, 2016 in Lindsay Ontario. The investigation is continuing and police are still seeking the public’s assistance with any information regarding the robbery in Sundridge.

OPP ARREST BARRIE DRIVER
(STRONG TWP, ON) – On Monday January 11, 2016 at approximately 9:30 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a traffic complaint on Highway 11, in the southbound lane. OPP stopped the vehicle near Robins Road and subsequently arrested the driver for exceeding the legal limit for alcohol. While in police custody, the driver resisted arrest and assaulted the officer.
The driver, Byron WILLIAMS, 27 of Barrie Ontario was charged with the following offences:
• Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
• Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
• Assault a peace officer, contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the CC
• Novice driver – Blood alcohol content above zero, contrary to section 44.1(3) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
• Speeding, contrary to section 128 of the HTA
The accused was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Sundridge Ontario.

ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS OPP INVESTIGATE
ASSAULT IN SOUTH RIVER
(SOUTH RIVER, ON) – On Saturday January 16, 2016 at approximately 9:00 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to an assault that occurred on Ottawa Avenue near Highway 124.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. the male victim was walking home when four males assaulted him. The men are described between the ages of 20-30 years and one male had short blonde hair.
The victim was taken to hospital by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) with minor injuries.
