ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS Weekly Report

(BURK’S FALLS, ON)-The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break enter and theft to a Burk’s Falls business that occurred sometime between 12:20 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday April 22, 2015.

On Tuesday July 21, 2015 officers arrested and charged Steven CHREST, 27 of Machar Township with Break and Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

On Wednesday July 22, 2015 officers arrested and charged Tommy KING, 19 of Burk’s Falls with Break Enter a Place – Commit Indictable Offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) and Mischief, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code.

Both accused were released from police custody and are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.

OPP ARREST FOUR PEOPLE FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged four separate drivers for impaired operation of a motor vehicle between Saturday July 25, 2015 and Thursday July 30, 2015.

On Saturday July 25, 2015 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a northbound vehicle on Highway 11 was involved in a single vehicle collision just north of Pevensey Road, Strong Township. When officers arrived at the collision, the driver Jana LISKA, 32 of Sarnia Ontario was arrested and charged with Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana, Under 30 Grams, contrary to section 4(1) the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

On Sunday July 26, 2015 at approximately 5:15p.m., the Almaguin Highlands OPP was responding to a traffic complaint on Selena Drive, McMurrich/Monteith Township. Police spoke to the driver and subsequently arrested and charged Sean HAYNES, 43 of McMurrich/Monteith Township for Impaired Operation, contrary to section 253(1)(a) and Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, contrary to section 253(b) of the Criminal Code.

On Monday July 27, 2015 at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands OPP investigated a traffic complaint on High Rock Road, Strong Township of a man sleeping in his vehicle. Police attended and arrested the driver, Ronald McCUTCHEON, 43 of Strong Township and charged him with Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Contrary to the Criminal Code.

On Thursday July 30, 2015 at approximately 11:30p.m., the Almaguin Highlands OPP were patrolling Perry Township when officers stopped a southbound vehicle on Highway 11 and subsequently arrested and charged the driver, Scott FERRIER, 49 of Kearney Ontario with Driving While Ability Impaired, contrary to section 253(1)(a) and Driving with More than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

All four accused are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.

DAMAGE TO DOE LAKE PARK

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating damage done to Doe Lake Park on two separate occasions.

On Sunday July 26, 2015 unknown person(s) removed 14 wooden rails from the playground area near the road and threw them in the lake.

On Friday July 31, 2015 again unknown person(s) damaged the park, this time suspects pulled the wooden rails from the ground and put them on the road. Damage was also done to the men and women’s washroom and a sign was removed from the bridge indicating water levels.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
