ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS Weekly Report

(MCMURRICH/MONTEITH TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of numerous tools from a logging site on Highway 518 West.

Unknown person(s) entered the property sometime between 6:00 p.m., Sunday August 16, 2015 and 6:00 a.m., Monday August 17, 2015 and stole the following:

• Green Greenlee outdoor storage box

• Various Hand tools

• Six tool box organizers filled with electrical and hydraulic parts

• Two Alemite greese guns

• 25 foot logging chain

• Black ROK outdoor storage box

• Stihl pole saw

• Husqvarna 435 chainsaw

• Assorted electrical and hydraulic parts and fittings for tree harvester

• Two full hydraulic oil containers

The total value of the stolen items is approximately $35,000.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

POLICE ARREST ARMOUR TOWNSHIP WOMAN FOR

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Monday August 17, 2015 Officers from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit arrested and charged a Ryerson Township female with possession of stolen property. Officers have had an ongoing investigation into several thefts in the Almaguin Higlands area and as a result police arrested and charged Marie TURNER, 43 with the following offences;

• Theft over $5000, contrary to section 334 (a) of the Criminal Code

• Eight counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, contrary to the Criminal Code

• Possession of a schedule I substance, cocaine, contrary to section (4)(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday September 24, 2015 in Sundridge, Ontario.

STUNT DRIVER ARRESTED FOR IMPARIED DRIVING

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Wednesday August 12, 2015 at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of a vehicle travelling north bound on Highway 11 at a fast rate of speed.

Police observed the vehicle travelling in excess of 150 kilometers per hour and stopped the vehicle on Ontario Street in the Village of Burk’s Falls.

OPP spoke to the driver and subsequently arrested and charged Jordan FLINTOFT 25 of Huntsville Ontario with the following offences:

• Driving with ability impaired contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

• Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

• Take motor vehicle without consent, contrary to section 335 (1) of the Criminal Code

• Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code

• Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – speeding by 50 or more kilometers per hour, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

• Driving while under suspension, contrary section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday September 24, 2015 in Sundridge, Ontario.

THEFT OF PICKUP TRUCK FROM AN ARMOUR TOWNSHIP BUSINESS

(PERRY TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a blue 2002 Diesel Dodge Ram pickup truck that occurred sometime between Wednesday July 29 and Wednesday August 5, 2015 at a Star Lake Road, Perry Township business.

Police are continuing to investigate and any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
