ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS Weekly Report

(SUNDRIDGE, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the theft of an All-Terrain vehicle (ATV) on Wednesday October 14, 2015.

Sometime after March 15, 2015 unknown person(s) stole the ATV from an Albert Street shed. The ATV is described as a 1998 350 Yamaha Big Bear, blue in colour.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

STRATFORD MAN RESCUED FROM OVERTURNED CANOE

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Friday October 16, 2015 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Burk’s Falls and District Fire Department and Parry Sound Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a male that had overturned his canoe on Pickeral Lake.

When police arrived they observed a male approximately half a kilometer from shore holding onto an overturned canoe. Officers along with a local resident rowed to the male and brought him back to shore. The 39 year old male from Stratford Ontario was wearing his life jacket at the time was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries by EMS.

TWO ATV’S STOLEN FROM MCMURRICH/MONTEITH TWP

(MCMURRICH/MONTEITH TWP, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of two All-Terrain vehicles (ATV) that were stolen on Friday October 16, 2015 from a Highway 518 West residence.

Police investigation revealed that sometime during the early morning hours on October 16, 2016 unknown person(s) entered the property and stole two 2004 Polaris ATV’S yellow in colour.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

OPP ARREST IMPARED DRIVER IN R.I.D.E PROGRAM

(JOLY TWP, ON) – On Saturday October 17, 2015 at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at Forest Lake Road and Joly Township Road.

A vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. program and the driver, Daniel LEGGETT, 29 of Sundridge Ontario was subsequently arrested and charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.

BREAK ENTER AND THEFT TO A PERRY TWP RESIDENCE

(PERRY TWP, ON) – On Saturday October 17, 2015 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police investigated a break enter and theft that occurred at an Old Novar Road residence.

Sometime between September 26, 2015 and October 17, 2015, unknown person(s) broke into the residence and stole a table and chairs, a microwave, a Cuisine Art coffee maker, a Bell satellite PVR receiver and remote, batteries, solar lights, an axe, a heater and a fan from the residence. The value of the stolen items is approximately $3000.

POLICE ARREST SOUTHGATE TOWNSHIP MAN FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Saturday October 17, 2015 at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of a vehicle speeding south bound on Highway 11.

OPP officers patrolled Highway 11 and stopped a vehicle that was travelling in excess of 150 kilometers per hour. Police spoke to the driver and subsequently arrested and charged the driver, Adrien JANZSO, 27 of Southgate Township with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. The accused was also charged with race a motor vehicle, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act and possess more than one licence contrary to section 35(1)(e) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, December 10, 2015 in Sundridge Ontario.
