(ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS, ON) – During the third week of the Festive R.I.D.E program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) checked approximately 588 vehicles. As a result of these R.I.D.E. checks, one driver has been charged with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC).
On Sunday December 11, 2016 at approximately 4:30 p.m. OPP had a R.I.D.E program set up at Pickerel and Jack Lake Road and Berriedale Road, Armour Township. A vehicle approached the program and subsequently the driver, Jeremy BROOKER, 42 or Armour Township was arrested and charged with the following offences:
• Having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b)CC.
• drive motor, no currently validated permit, contrary to section 7(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA)
• Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).
The accused was released by police and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday January 26, 2016 in Sundridge Ontario.
Almaguin Highlands OPP would like to remind motorists that if you have a few drinks, have a designated driver, stay the night or call a taxi.

ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS OPP INVESTIGATE THEFT IN SPRUCEDALE
(MCMURRICH/MONTEITH TWP, ON) – On Monday December 5, 2016 at approximately 12:30 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a theft at a Stisted Road residence.
Unknown person(s) entered the residence and stole a washer, dryer, fridge, a drill press, grinding wheel and miter saw. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $2000.
Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
