(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON.) – A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division has charged another high miler, this time travelling at a high rate of speed in rainy weather.
On November 23, 2014, police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 401, east of Plank Line in South-west Oxford Township. The vehicle was travelling at a speed of 165km/h in a posted 100km/h zone. Based on the observations and investigative steps taken by the OPP officer, the driver, a 24 year old male of London has been charged.
Ali FAZAL was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
Race a motor vehicle
Careless driving
Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
Drivers who engage in high risk driving behavior put everyone at risk. Speeding makes it more difficult for drivers to react to changes, stop suddenly and control a vehicle. During inclement weather this task is even more difficult and more dangerous. In the case of a collision, the higher the speed the more severe the collision and the more likely that serious injuries or death will occur.
OPP would like to remind the motoring public to manage their time and respect all the rules of the road when travelling.
