(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On February 4, 2017 at approximately 8:33 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting radar and monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a northbound 2007 Toyota travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 137 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
39-year-old Ali B A ALFIQIR of Mississauga has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on March 1, 2017. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of 7 days as per statute.
