(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – The City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) following elementary school students home from a bus stop in the Oakwood area on the afternoon of February 23, 2016.
The incident is being investigated and anyone with information is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Information can also be reported anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or by going to www.khcs.ca and submitting an anonymous tip online.
The OPP would also like to remind UAV operators that they are responsible for the safe operation of their aircraft and the need to respect the property and privacy of others in the community. It is incumbent upon the user to know the rules of UAV’s before flying them and enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the Transport Canada website.
