(CALEDON, ON) – On Wednesday, August 21, 2013 shortly before 8:30 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to investigate a single motor vehicle collision on The Grange Side Road. Preliminary information indicated that the driver had lost control of the vehicle and left the scene of the accident on foot. As officers patrolled the area, they observed a male walking out of the wooded area onto The Grange Side Road. The officers approached the male and they immediately detected that he had consumed alcohol and confirmed that he was the driver of the motor vehicle.
Once the investigation was completed, Aldwin Miles LAWRENCE, 23, of Brampton was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 and Fail to Remain at Scene of Accident.
The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was held in custody and will make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville later this date.
