(South Algonquin Township, ON) Provincial Constable Mike Recoskie received a complaint of an attempt fraud. The fraudster contacted the complainant from what appeared to be a local number. The initial contact with the recipient is a recording that requests the caller press one if they would like to receive a large sum of air miles. Once they press one a voice comes on the phone encouraging the potential victim to provide a credit card number. Further investigation from Provincial Constable Recoskie revealed air miles do not use an automated system. Police are advising the public to be cautious of any callers that request a credit card number. Take the time to research the company online.
