Aggressive Door to Door Salesman Charged With Trespass

(TILLSONBURG, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) is warning the public in regards to high pressure, door to door salespeople and what a homeowner’s rights are.

On Tuesday July 30, 2013, O.P.P. responded to a suspicious person call on North Street in Tillsonburg. Through investigation it was revealed that a male suspect attended a residence trying to sell a product. The male then refused to leave the property when asked several times by the homeowner. The male suspect was rude and pushy while trying to engage the homeowner in conversation about the environment.

O.P.P. was able to locate the male suspect and he was charged with the following:

Ben PARKHURST, 21 years of Kitchener – Fail to leave premises when directed, Contrary to the Trespass to Property Act

We receive complaints of salespeople attending homes in Tillsonburg demanding to inspect equipment within the house or to do a demonstration” said Inspector Tim Clark
