83 Year Old Fails To Yield To Traffic Succumbs To Injuries

(Selwyn Township, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a serious collision at the intersection of Peterborough County Road 18 at the Centre Line of Selwyn (County Road 24) yesterday just before 2:00pm.

A northbound car failed to yield to an eastbound pickup truck and was hit broadside in the intersection. The driver of the car was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). Helene Mary PEACOCK (age 83) of Selwyn Township succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the hospital.

The roadway was closed for several hours while members of the OPP Highway Safety Division assisted Peterborough County OPP with reconstruction of the collision scene. The intersection was reopened just before 5:30pm yesterday.
