(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On July 6, 2016, at 2:50 a.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Sunny Point Road in Seguin Township. A vehicle lost control and slid off the roadway. The vehicle then skidded down a hill into a tree. The male driver was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
As a result of the officer’s investigation, Horst OSTERMANN, 81 years of age from Seguin Township, was arrested and charged with:
Driving while Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (Alcohol) contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
Care or Control over 80 mgs contrary to the (CC).
The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, on August 4, 2016 to answer to his charges. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
