80 Year Old Gets Over 80 Charge

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On February 10, 2017 at 10:40 pm, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complainant on a motor vehicle in the Town of Fort Frances.

Officers located the motor vehicle on the 200 block of Scott Street. The driver, Earl TWEEDIE, age 80 years of Devlin, was arrested and transported to OPP Detachment for breath tests. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory 7 days. The driver was subsequently charged with,

-Driving with More than 80mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code

-Having Over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

-Driving under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic of Ontario

He will appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on March 24, 2017 to answer to the charge.
