(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- On September 24, 2016, shortly after 7:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to call for service regarding a sexual assault that occurred in the City of Elliot Lake. Police attended the local hospital and learned that an eight year girl was sexually assaulted by an older male.
As a result of the investigation, a 22 year old male, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code (CC);
Sexual Interference with a Person Under 16 years of age, contrary to section 151 of the CC; and
Sexual Exploitation, contrary to section 153(1)(a) of the CC.
He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on October 4, 2016.
