7th Impaired Driver Caught In North Bay This Month

(NORTH BAY, ON) –On October 27, 2015, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a member of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Algonquin Avenue, North Bay, when he stopped a vehicle after noticing erratic driving and no tail lights.

Further investigation resulted in Katie MANITOWABI, age 20, of North Bay, being arrested and charged with the following:

Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle (alcohol), section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

Care or Control Over 80 mgs., section 253(1)(b) CC;

Fail to Compl (NORTH BAY, ON) –On October 27, 2015, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a member of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol on Algonquin Avenue, North Bay, when he stopped a vehicle after noticing erratic driving and no tail lights.

Care or Control Over 80 mgs., section 253(1)(b) CC;

Fail to Comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC;

Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent, section 335(1).

She remains in custody and held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on October 28, 2015.

This is the seventh person charged with impaired driving by the North Bay OPP this month. The OPP is reminding drivers to; if you plan on drinking, make plans for a ride home before going out. Options include a taxi, friend, family member or staying the night. Drivers put themselves and others at risk when they decide to drink and drive. y with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) CC;
