(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On March 27, 2014 Northumberland Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a weapons complaint on Harwood Road, Hamilton Township.
The caller advised OPP that a male shooting squirrels had struck his vehicle. One round from a .22 calibre rifle struck the rear passenger door. No injuries were sustained as a result of this errant bullet.
Hayden Ferguson 78 years old of Hamilton Township has been charged with the following offences:
– Careless use of a firearm
– Unauthorized possession of a firearm
– Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
He was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice – Cobourg on April 16, 2014 at 9:30am.
The OPP would like to remind those who use firearms to always exercise firearms safety rules at all times.
