78 Year Old Impaired Driver Tries To Evade Police

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On March 4, 2017 at 10:00 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police were on general patrol in Seguin Township when officers attempted to stop a vehicle. The vehicle continued to a nearby residence.

Investigation has revealed that the officer spoke with the male who was operating the vehicle and it was believed he had been consuming alcohol.

As a result of the investigation;

Gerald FRASER, 78 years of age from Muskoka Lakes Township was arrested and charged with;

Impaired Care and Control, contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Care or Control over 80 mgs, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the CC

Fail To Stop For Police, contrary to section 216 of the Highway Traffic Act

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 6, 2017 to answer to his charges.

The OPP are reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
