76 Year Old Speeder Runs Stop Sign Narrowly Missing Police Cruiser – Name Released

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On October 13, 2017 at approximately 10:20 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 32 at Laird Road, Township of Puslinch.

The officer was stationary at this intersection when a westbound motor vehicle entered the intersection at 97 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. The vehicle failed to stop at the clearly posted stop sign at the intersection and nearly struck the police cruiser.

76-year-old John BARNES of Waterloo has been charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code and will appear in Guelph Criminal Court on November 21, 2017.
