(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On November 18, 2015, at approximately 11:54 a.m., the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several complaints of tire debris.
An older white GMC sport utility vehicle (SUV) was towing a small black trailer eastbound on Highway 401, near Wellington Road, in the City of London, Ontario. The driver of the vehicle combination drove the wheel on its rim, as the tire dislodged from the driver’s side of the trailer.
Two other vehicles then struck the resulting tire debris, and received damage.
With assistance from the OPP West Region (WR) Highway Safety Division (HSD), officers located the suspect vehicle, and charged the driver.
As a result of the police investigation, a 76 year old male from Warwick Township, Ontario, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) with permit operation of unsafe combination of vehicles, and drive motor vehicle – part detached.
The accused is scheduled to appear in a London court on January 4, 2016.
