75 Year Old Pedestrian Struck In Crosswalk – Arrest Warrant For Patrick McPHIE Issued

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 211 calls for service during the previous week, including motor vehicle collisions, domestic disputes and break, enter and thefts.

Pedestrian Struck, Arrest Warrant Issued for Driver

On Thursday March 31 at 2:50pm a pedestrian was struck on Raglan St S in Renfrew. The 75-year-old female was crossing the street in a pedestrian crosswalk. A motorist stopped for the pedestrian and was struck from behind. The rear end collision pushed the witness vehicle forward into the pedestrian knocking her to the ground. She suffered serious injuries and was transported by paramedics to hospital. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was followed by witnesses who provided the licence plate and suspect description to officers. Following their investigation police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Patrick McPHIE 21 of Pontiac Que. He is charged with failing to remain at a collision causing bodily harm and take motor vehicle without consent. Provincial Constable Mark Yarmel is investigating.

Break, Enter and Theft

Officer responded to an alarm and found a break in early Friday morning. The break, enter and theft happened at J R’s Country Store near Foresters Falls in the Township of Whitewater Region. OPP officers responded to an alarm at the store at 4:11am on Friday April 1. Video footage shows three masked males breaking in through the front door and stealing merchandise. They used a black duffle bag and two cardboard boxes to carry out the stolen property. Sergeant John Birmingham is investigating.

Male Charged with Assault

One male was arrested and charged following an investigation into an assault. On Monday March 28 at 7:55pm the female victim attended the Arnprior OPP office to report being choked and threatened by a male after a verbal argument. The victim and accused are known to one another. The victim was transported by paramedics to hospital for treatment of her injuries. Following the investigating the accused turned himself into police. Norman NORMANDEAU 49 of Arnprior was charged with assault, overcoming resistance by choking, and uttering threats. He was released on a promise to appear and Officer in charge undertaking. He will appear in court in Renfrew on May 4. Provincial Constable Bernie Dikih led the investigation.

Cottages Broken Into

Several cottage owners reported their cottages broken into last week. Provincial Constable Mark Yarmel is leading the investigation into 4 reported break-ins to cottages on Lurges Lane in the Township of Admaston Bromley. Nothing appears to have been stolen but damage was done to get in, and once inside at least on fire extinguisher was emptied. The investigation is continuing.

Sexual Assault Investigation

Renfrew OPP officers are investigating after a sexual assault was reported to them. Officers began their investigation on April 3 when the victim reported being sexually assaulted at a residence in Renfrew on April 1 in the evening hours. The victim also reported a quantity of cash was stolen from them. Provincial Constable Troy Dobbie is leading the investigation.

Theft

A female was charged with an offence under the Trespass to Property Act after a theft investigation at Wal-Mart. Police attended the store on Tuesday March 29 after an employee was arrested by store security for theft. The stolen property was returned and a ticket was issued to Kathy RYE 35 of Renfrew for engaging in a prohibited activity, contrary to the Trespass to Property Act. Provincial Constable Amadeo Jean-Louis investigated.
