74 Year Old Runs Stop Sign – 2 Vehicle Collision

On Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 12:20 p.m., Guelph Police were dispatched to a collision in the intersection of Edinburgh Road North and Speedvale Avenue West Guelph. Investigation revealed that a Toyota Camry was travelling northbound on Edinburgh Rd. N when it traveled into the intersection against a red light and struck a Ford Edge. The impact caused the Ford to strike a traffic light pole on the northwest corner of the intersection.

The 34-year-old Breslau male driver of the Ford was temporarily trapped until The Guelph Fire Department extricated him.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The 74-year-old Guelph male driver of the Toyota was charged with Red light – fail to stop, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
